Made in Oberkochen, Germany - One of only two ZM lenses produced in-house by Zeiss (the other being the 15mm Distagon T* f/2.8), rather than by Cosina in Japan.

Roughly 600 units made between 2007 and 2011 (some estimates vary to 200). Discontinued due to high production costs and complex manufacturing.

Classic Sonnar design

Short-telephoto Sonnar formula with T* multi-coating, 10-blade aperture, all-metal barrel and hood. Renowned for outstanding wide-open central sharpness, smooth and creamy bokeh, plus the signature “Zeiss look”: strong contrast, rich colors, and excellent micro-contrast.
