The History & Design
The LHSA Special Edition Summilux-M 50mm ASPH is a rare fusion of heritage and high-performance optics. Released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Leica Historical Society of America, this lens features the advanced optical formula of the modern 50mm Summilux ASPH but is housed in a "retro" brass barrel.
Drawing inspiration from the original 1959 version, it features the iconic scalloped focus ring, a classic E43 filter thread, and a dedicated clip-on 12586 lens hood. Finished in stunning silver chrome over solid brass, it offers a substantial, tactile feel that honors Leica’s golden era of manufacturing.
Technical Excellence
Underneath its vintage exterior lies the pinnacle of 50mm lens design. Utilizing a floating element and an aspherical surface, this lens remains pin-sharp from its minimum focus distance all the way to infinity, even at f/1.4. The rendering is characterized by exceptionally smooth bokeh and high contrast.
